Rune started his DJ career in 93. Having spent 4 years playing drums in various funk bands, the basic skills of beatmixing and cutting came to him easily. Before releasing his first EP in ‘95, he spent three years producing hip-hop tunes for local talents. Yet it was in 2002 with the Artificial Funk single “Together” that people outside Denmark started taking notice of what is now the brightest star on the Danish house scene.
After the success of “Together”, Rune’s next outing became one of the Ibiza 2003 season defining tracks – indeed one of the defining tracks of electronic music, full stop – in the shape of the haunting sax-driven classic, “Calabria”. Even in 2010, the track was still creating chart mayhem, as the covers won’t seem to end. Rune’s own version Enur - Calabria, also spread like a wildfire across Europe in the summer of 2007, ending up with topping the American airplay chart in the beginning of 2008 and selling more than 800.000 singles in the U.S alone – thus being the most sold Electronic / Dance track on Itunes in 2008. A new updated Rune RK version of Calabria was released in 2008 and was quickly adopted by The Swedish House Mafia and many more and was one of the big hits of the 2008 Ibiza season.
Having won ‘Best Club DJ of the Year’ 4 years in a row in his home country Denmark, Rune is known for his unique blend of classics and new releases. His technique is beyond just playing the tracks. You’ll see him adding accapellas, and his sets consist mainly of special edits created for the occasion. Rune believes that it’s important to deliver a show, so there is a lot of action behind the decks.
For RAW 2011, Rune is presented by Nightology Records, and he is teaming up with talented Danish singer Clara Sofie and Copenhagen’s own, young Grime pioneer Stanley Most.
Clara Sofie is a highly talented singer and songwriter. Clara Sofie was born into a family full of musicians, so music has always been a natural part of her life. She has worked in numerous band - and producer collaborations as a singer. From rock to r&b, jazz, hardcore triphop and pop. Between living in New York (2000-2002), Denmark and London (2004-2005), she explored her songwriter skills and writing gradually became her passion and main focus. As a solo artist she released a Danish pop album in 2007 and a couple of singles via side-projects since then. The collaboration with Rune RK has found new directions in her songwriting taking her into clubland territory!
Stanley Most is the future sound of Hip Hop and Grime in Denmark. When he teamed up with Rune RK to record ‘Tivoli’, the preview alone garnered over 100,000 hits on YouTube. In candid and profound language, the young gun raps about how it is to be both a veteran and a pioneer, how it feels to suddenly break through and how he keeps it real. This is lyricism of high calibre – set to a perfect beat by one of Denmark’s best producers.
