MHM ONE
Friday, July 15, 2011 at 12:18PM The Danish techno scene has many players but only one that fits the following description: DJ, producer, professional to the bone and endearing extraordinaire. Adding a busy factor = 1000, you have MHM One - the one of a kind wonderkind from Copenhagen.
After juggling graffiti, singing and playing the drums in various bands since the mid-90s, a musical vision came to him, “like in a dream”, during a longer stay in Berlin. “No matter how big of a cliché it sounds,” MHM One exploans “this is what shaped my musical styles”. Giving birth to his concept of bringing the Copenhagen scene a synergy of music and art and warm atmosphere, several new initiatives saw the light of day. Amongst these was the Kill Your Telly clubnight, which was so powerful a concept that it went straight to the top of the collective mind of ravers in the Danish capital.
“The journeys (yeah, that’s right, another metaphorical techno travel agent!) on which I take my dancefloor passengers is hypnotizing”, MHM One declares. Having spent almost a decade playing other people’s music, MHM One started making his own in 2007. This led to his debut only one year later: The Bubububadub EP on Tartelet Records: a bass-heavy tech house track with a simple and catchy vocal feature from Who Made Who's Thomas Høfting, that became a hit among the worlds top djs including Villalobos, Zip, Tobi Neumann and Loco Dice, the latter picking it up for his Mix CD "The Lab" on NRK Records.
MHM One has also been remixing tracks for Nikola Gala, Joe Montana, Martinez, IGYOT and Spejderrobot to just name just some. His production skills and artistic fingerprints are very similar to what he is doing in the clubs. He draws inspiration from the dynamics and synergy between DJ and dance floor but also from the more melancholic moments of his personal life.
MHM One’s pipeline is full of new stuff, so keep an eye and both ears open - and check him out at RAW 2011!
