Ask anybody with a minimum of clubbing culture knowledge, and they'll tell you that Kjeld Tolstrup is the godfather of the Danish scene.

Hailing from Århus, Denmark, Kjeld debuted as DJ in September 1981 and his history is simply breathtaking: it spans DJ residencies at venues such as V58, Sub (Blitz), Klub Kronstadt and Loft in Århus and Lækker, X-Ray, Nasa, Mindship Cantina, Rust, Slide, Vega, Copenhagen Country Club, Konrad, Ketchup and Tabu in Copenhagen, as well as hundreds of gigs at other venues throughout Denmark.

It also encompasses DJ gigs at famed international venues and events such as Ministry Of Sound, Love Ranch, Leisure Lounge, Betty Ford Clinic, Return To New York, Distortion Disko, Soho House, APT, Bank@Element, The Hole, Happy Ending, Metalworks, Drum Club, Strut, Café De Paris, Limelight, The Gallery, Pinch, Club For Life, The End, Riki Tik, Momo's, Life, Magnum, Pier 61, Les Bains, Castel and Harem...

Shuttling heavy crates of vinyl pleasure between New York and St. Petersburg, Russia, and from Reykjavik to Ibiza, Tolstrup has also managed to squeeze in time to entertain at HRH Crown Prince Frederik & Princess Mary's wedding, Tour De France (Paris), MTV Awards (Frankfurt), Olympic Games (Athens), Danish Grammy/Danish Music Awards (SEVEN times) and Roskilde Festival.

He has worked with Grace Jones, DJ Hell, Erick Morillo, Zoot Woman, Jacques Lu Cont, Bloc Party, Underworld, Darren Emerson, Kurtis Mantronix, Justice, Felix Da Housecat, Röksopp, The Chemical Brothers, Boy George, Todd Terry, Björk, Erol Alkan, Sammy Jo, The Scissor Sisters, Armand van Helden, Run DMC, Roger Sanchez, Peaches, Rad Rice, Sean Mclusky, Claude Challé, Tiga, Larry Tee, Queens Of Noize, EPMD, WhoMadeWho, P, Tasty Tim, Private, Spencer Product, - to name but.. well, not a few but at least some of those graced with his solid skills.

Among young Danes, he is probably best known these days for his massively successful show on Danish state radio, UngaBunga. This show has recently been turned into its own DAB radio, broadcasting the best in electronic music 24/7.
